Okay so about two to three weeks ago Firefox released a new tool on their browser called: Firefox View. People say that this was a big play by Mozilla Firefox to set it apart from its rivals, Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Despite it being a great tool and undeniably important to the evolution of internet browsers, one must ask themselves: “Why is nobody talking about this?”
Hold up. Before we answer that question, we must answer another far less, but maybe equally important question: “What is Firefox View?”
Well to put it simply, Firefox View is a tool on the Firefox browser which allows you to open tabs that you have recently closed and also open tabs that you have recently opened on other devices that you are also using Mozilla Firefox Version 106 or above on. Get it now?
Good.
Okay so now that we got that out of the way, it is time to answer the main question of the article: “Why is nobody talking about this?”
Well the simple answer to that question is: nobody is talking about this because most people are dumb-shits.
Yup you read that right, most people are indeed “dumb-shits”. Do you remember the Scarecrow character from L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard Of Oz? You do do you? Looks like you are one of the smart ones…well anyways, that particular character does not have a brain right? And he’s constantly spending his whole life searching for ways to be smart and to justify himself not having a brain right? Well that is the life of most people here on our little spinning little snow-globe that we call Earth/home.
It seems that the latest trend with most people is to model their way of life after Baum’s beloved Scarecrow character. They like to do things that they think other people will think they are smart by doing. *Hint* sort of like getting the latest iPhone or proudly displaying via Instagram Stories that they are using Google Chrome as their web browser of choice…*sigh* the list could go on.
Well do you remember how the Wizard at the end of The Wizard Of Oz movie gave The Scarecrow an honorary doctorate in Thinkology? Well if that movie was made today, he would most likely be gifted the latest iPhone with Google Chrome installed as its default browser on it. *Hint* our so-called “smart phones” are the doctorates of today.
The truth of the matter is: people are not talking about this because they are not aware of this—and that my friends, is heartbreaking. There is nothing worse than something important going unnoticed.
For some reason many years back people decided to leave Firefox en masse in order to set sights on the new delightful ground of Google Chrome. And for what reasons did they do this? Did they find the Firefox in the Firefox logo that is encircling/protecting the Earth childish? Did they not like that the Firefox had flames on its tail? Perhaps they were scared of a fox with flames on its tail encircling the earth? Perhaps if they saw a fox with flame on its tail encircling the earth they would think it was a UFO—or even worse—one of Elon Musk’s Starlink satellites.
Whatever people’s reasons for not talking about this are, they are clearly bullshit, and the only reason they transferred over to Google Chrome is because they like the Green, Blue, Red, Yellow, pinwheel logo because those are probably their favourite colours from middle school—or even worse—Kindergarten from back in the day.
What I am trying to say is: Firefox View should be talked about more.
Are we really going to spend our whole lives only talking about the latest Chrome and iOS updates? Why as a society can we sometimes only handle two options (ie. Pepsi or Coke or Republican or Democrat)? This is a question a lot of us should be asking. Yes including me, I am not perfect either.
Signing off for now,
